Jesus, who is authenticity incarnate, talks and acts with authority

– he teaches with authority and casts out evil forces with authority.

Why even the evil spirits obey Him. His power is His integrity.

The angels

Jesus declares his mission, quoting Isaiah.

And as Jesus proclaimed those words of the Scriptures,

He proclaimed the fulfilment of everything that had been prophesied,

all the miracles and signs He had performed,

all were the evidence that He was the Messiah that had been promised.

John proclaims the coming of someone mightier than he.

John the Baptist played his role to perfection.

John the Baptist humbly states that Jesus must become greater while he becomes less.

This teaches us the importance of humility, recognizing that Jesus is the center of our faith.
